Generous, irregular slices of Peruvian blue opal reveal shifting shades of pale blue, seafoam, cream, and earthy matrix. Clear glass spacers add subtle light between the stones, while warm gold-toned accents and textured chain create a beautiful contrast.

At 17 inches, Bay Street makes a distinctive statement without losing the relaxed elegance that defines Mossy Isle.

Stone Notes

Peruvian blue opal is a variety of common opal found in Peru's Andean region. Unlike precious opal, it generally does not display the rainbow-like play of color associated with traditional opals.

Its distinctive blue and blue-green coloring is commonly linked to trace amounts of copper-bearing minerals. Composed of hydrated silica, Peruvian blue opal may also contain natural inclusions and earthy matrix that create beautiful variations in pattern and color.

Because opal contains water within its structure, it is sensitive to excessive heat, prolonged direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals.
